Find the work.
Choose a recurring task that is understandable, measurable and reversible. Record the time, rework, and effect on people today. Check whether a process change or an existing tool is enough.
Working kit
A working kit for leaders choosing their first AI workflow.
Choose one bottleneck. Give the people doing the work a voice. Leave with a scoped task, clear boundaries, and evidence for the next step.

Pick your decision date before the first one. An end date is what turns a pilot into a decision. Complex or high-impact work may need a longer review.
Choose a recurring task that is understandable, measurable and reversible. Record the time, rework, and effect on people today. Check whether a process change or an existing tool is enough.
Agree which information may be used, which actions are off limits, who reviews the output, and when a person takes over. If an agent can act, define its access and limits before a live test. Then check what it depends on underneath: the systems and data, who can reach them, whether the network can carry it, and what review it needs.
Try representative examples and a difficult exception in an approved environment. Give people time to learn. Ask what improves, what creates extra work, and what should remain in their hands.
Compare quality, effort, service and full cost. Decide whether to continue, change or stop. Name the next action and who owns it.
An example to make it concrete
A finance team might test a draft explanation of planned versus actual spend using an approved, de-identified sample. A finance owner checks the sources and interpretation. The tool does not approve spending or change accounting records.
That is a bounded task with a visible review point. It also exposes useful questions about data, permissions, integration, and the time needed to check the answer.

Add your name and work email to open the worksheet online. We’ll also email you the fillable PDF. It includes a reusable LLM instruction, team learning prompts, a boundaries worksheet, a foundation check and a full-cost comparison.

Why this topic, now
Current research from McKinsey and RSM describes the gap between individual AI use and broader business impact. Deloitte highlights the need for stronger governance as agents expand. This kit translates those themes into an original AIR working exercise; it is not endorsed by those firms.
